IDEAS (Innovation, Design, and Emerging Alliances in Surgery) was created by the Roberta and Stephen R. Weiner Department of Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, in Boston, Massachusetts.

As its name implies, IDEAS seeks to foster innovation in surgery, particularly at the interface of surgery and other disciplines, whether the social, biological, or physical sciences. IDEAS seeks to bring innovators from surgery and other professions together in a virtual community to focus on unmet clinical needs, and provide them with a forum for exchanging ideas and forming new, productive collaborations.

Through events, programs, and this new website, IDEAS is focused on “Bringing Innovative Ideas to Life.
